Mumbai. Benchmark indices opened flat with a negative bias. The Sensex was down 16.93 points at 37,087.35 and the Nifty50 fell 4.40 points to 10,978.40.
The indices traded flat with a positive bias in pre-opening. The BSE Sensex rose 71.58 points to 37,175.86 and the Nifty50 gained 4 points at 10,986.80.
Meanwhile, The Indian rupee traded at 70.93 against the US dollar, up 20 paise from previous close.
Asian stocks advanced on Friday as hints of progress in the US-China trade dispute and aggressive stimulus from the European Central Bank helped to counter worries about a global economic slowdown.
