Farmers should adopt animal husbandry for additional income: Minister Shri Lakhan Singh Yadav
Pashudhan Bima Yojana introduced in entire state
The Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries Development and Fishermen’s Welfare Shri Lakhan Singh Yadav urged the farmers to adopt animal husbandry for additional income. The compensation against the loss of animals has become possible, owing to the implementation of Pashudhan Bima Yojana. He informed that this scheme has been launched in all the districts of the state.
Shri Yadav informed that under the Pashudhan Bima Yojana, along with the dairy cattle, insurance of cattle of all other categories can be done. A beneficiary can get a maximum of 5 cattle insured. He said that 10 cattle like sheep, goat, pig etc. will be considered as one unit. This means that sheep, goat and pig breeders will be able to insure 50 animals at a time. APL category will get 50 percent subsidy and BPL, SC, ST category cattlemen will get upto 70 percent subsidy on insurance premium. The remaining amount will be borne by the beneficiary.
The Minister Shri Lakhan Singh Yadav said that the maximum rate of insurance premium will be payable at the rate of 3 percent for one year and 7.50 percent for three years. Currently, 2.45 percent and 5.95 percent rates are applicable in the state. Cattle raisers will be able to insure their animals for one year to three years.
Minister Shri Yadav said that the owners of the insured animals will have to inform the insurance company about the death of the cattle within 24 hours. Veterinary doctors of the Animal Husbandry Department will examine dead animal and mention the cause of death in the report. Officers will submit claim form to the insurance company within a month. After that, the company will settle the claim within 15 days.
