Skymet Weather predicts rain in Chennai, heres more

A few southern and some South Interior districts of Tamil Nadu have been receiving scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells since the last 48 hours. In fact, this is the first prolonged rainy spell over Tamil Nadu in the month of February.

During the last 24 hours also, scattered light rains occurred over the South coast of Tamil Nadu up to Puducherry. However, the weather of Chennai remained dry.

Now, however, we expect the city of Chennai to also receive light to very light rains during the next 24 to 48 hours. These on and off rains are expected to continue over Coastal Tamil Nadu and parts of South Tamil Nadu for the next two to three days.

The reason for these rains can be traced back to a feeble Trough extending from South Interior Tamil Nadu to South Madhya Maharashtra across Karnataka. Moreover, easterly strong winds are also increasing moisture over Tamil Nadu from Bay of Bengal.

The intensity of these rains will remain mainly light to moderate over most regions including Chennai. Any heavy to very heavy rains are being ruled out as of now. Due to the absence of any significant system, the weather activities will only remain patchy.

Any disruption to day to day life is being ruled out as of now. Some relief from ongoing hot weather conditions lies ahead for Tamil Nadu.
