China Commission, a Congressional-Executive Commission on China was created to monitor human rights & rule of law in China, has expressed its disappointment that the World Bank will continue to fund a ‘vocational training’ project in Xinjiang. It said that ending support for partner schools is a half-measure when China uses ‘vocational training’ to mask mass internment, forced labor & other human rights abuses. China Commission also demanded answers as to why the World Bank is funding schools in Xinjiang as gross violations of human rights are taking place and that it should seek unconditional release of Kamil Rehim.
