AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has said that 'population growth was not a national ‘crisis’ but held the possibility of a demographic dividend that is quickly shrinking'. Using such rhetoric to demonise communities has disastrous consequences, he said. Owaisi added that Prime Minister's Office's failure to create jobs will be repackaged as a population problem soon. India’s real problem is not population explosion of any community, he stressed and added that the 'real problem is that few castes/families have accumulated MOST of India’s wealth Let’s not blame the poor for their poverty'. He was reacting to the media report where Nobel Laureate Abhijit Banerjee stated of the talk that “one hears at least from the fringes of the ruling party about the demography of the Muslim population...is really just a way to demonise a population”.
