Social media is in a tizzy after out of the blue, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that he is contemplating quitting the popular social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. It need be mentioned that Modi's social media outreach is phenomenol as it his accounts have massive following. Modi's Twitter has 53 million, Facebook 44 million, Instagram 35 million, Youtube 4.5 million followers. Many reactions have also been coming including from Parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor who expressed apprehension that 'it might be a prelude to banning these services throughout the country too. As Narendra Modi knows well, social media can also be a force for good & for positive & useful messaging. It doesn't have to be about spreading hate'. This comes amid the speculations that India could go in for a indigenous 5G and that it might have indigenous social media platforms as well.
